Blank Slate

If you could start over again with a blank slate, what would you do? I feel like when I was in my teens and very early 20s This was a much easier process. There was no hesitation, and I didn't worry at all about the how. How to make it happen, that is. I just trusted that it would happen. When in life did this process become complicated? How awesome would it be to experience that effortless flow again? I am big about setting intentions for the day, for a particular situation, for your week, etc.

In the yoga studio, you may have had an instructor who asked you to set an intention for your practice. Take your time and think about it as your mind will go after the words that you silently say in your head. It's not just about being positive or choosing a vague phrase like be happy, because what does being happy even mean to you? I like to start with a favorite mantra of mine. "I am strong, I am determined." You can create your own intention. Start with the phrase, "I AM," and fill in the blank.

Today my intention is I am open to receiving. You may think that is being selfish or that I want people to give me things. What I mean is that I am open to receiving compliments, for example, and just saying a simple thank you without denying the compliment or disregarding it. I am open to seeing possibilities, new opportunities, partnerships, resources. I believe they will come my way. However, the key is being open to seeing them when they appear and taking the action steps necessary to elicit this change. Just repeating these thoughts in your head does not make them happen no matter what the affirmation gurus say. It is about bringing an awareness to what you want and simultaneously going after it.

This year is starting to bring changes which can be scary. Most people myself included do not like change. We are creatures of habit and prefer to stay comfortable. It is easier for sure. I am ready to mix it up and go after what I want in my life. How about you? When was the last time you sat down and wrote a plan for yourself? I encourage you to write a combination of long-term and short-term goals. Take the extra time to write down the action steps that you will take to make them happen. Without small daily action steps, your goals are useless. As Tony Robbins says, "if you haven't taken action, then you haven't truly decided."

You may choose to focus on your education and personal growth. You might take classes to learn new skills and knowledge, or read books to broaden your perspective. Perhaps travel to different places to experience different cultures and ways of life. You might look for meaningful relationships with people who could help you grow and learn as a person. Finally, you could strive to make a positive contribution to the world by working on projects or initiatives that can improve the lives of others

I'd love to hear what you have planned and what greatness you are up to achieving this year. Comment below. #levelup
