Sh*tter's Full

We recently had an issue with our septic system. Basically the best way to describe the problem is to quote cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation and say, "sh*tter's full."

After the initial fire drill while my husband assessed the situation and figured out what was wrong it made me think where else does this happen in our lives? Before I get to that, let me say that whether you are a man or a woman, it is important to be able to handle your sh*t. Basic life skills are important, maybe now more than ever. I am just as guilty as the next person, and I admit that my first go-to is YouTube or Google for whatever tidbit of information I'm curious about. However, I also realized that my most important skills are common sense and problem solving. At the same time, I'm 100% grateful that my husband is handy. We are both teaching our children to be self-sufficient.

Let me get back to my initial thought. Where else do things back up in our life? First thing that comes to mind is our body. Not to get too graphic but I'm sure you have heard the phrase garbage, in garbage out. Even worse is when the crap gets backed up and refuses to go away. This can cause all kinds of trouble in the body (and life), and I don't just mean in your intestines. It could affect your liver and your ability to remove toxins. It could be unexpressed emotions that begin to fester. It could be not taking a risk to live your dream life because you are comfortable where you are and it's easy. It could be not telling someone you love them or forgive them. It could be hanging onto a relationship that needs to go. Can you see where I'm headed with this? Just something to think about. An image that comes to mind is of a junk drawer of life. LOL

What or even who is in your life that is no longer serving your highest good? It's time to surrender and let go. It's not always easy that is why they or it is still around creating havoc. A friend recently shared that they were finally taking major steps to heal past trauma in their life. Since doing that they have purged people and relationships from their life that were having a negative impact all of a sudden. I don't think it was all of a sudden though. I just believe that it was time for them to go as they had already served their purpose on her journey in life.

Let's get back to the issue with our septic system. Turns out it was the filter. I did not even know that it had a filter! Lesson learned. As soon as we cleaned the filter it was working perfectly. (You really don't want to mess with my ability to take a shower or use the toilet.) I am glad it was only temporary and we were able to relatively quickly come up with a solution by calmly asking questions.

You only get one body. Do you know all of its filters?

Here's a list for you:

Liver filters waste toxins, etc.

Skin the largest organ in the body responsible for tears and saliva. A physical clearing out of your eyes and crying provides tremendous emotional release

Nose & Eyelashes act as physical filters to catch intruders like dust, etc.

Digestive system like your colon and intestines filter out toxins and absorb nutrients.

Lymphatic system is like the sewage system of the blood. Lymph collects fluids from your tissues and returns them to your blood. It carries nutrients and proteins to your cells and tissues. It also collects any harmful substances found in your cells and tissues. NOTE: these are just some of the body's filters.

All of these systems in the body work really hard and we don't give them a second thought until they stop working just like the filter in our septic tank. Take a few minutes to check in with your body. Do a quick scan from head to toe. Does anything need attention or feel off? Trust what your body tells you don't ignore it although it's very easy to do. The key is to correct any issues before they come a larger problem. If you do that you'll be able to achieve a good quality of life. That is why I like helping people with their nutrition, fitness and mindset. Stay healthy, my friends
